The twelve compounds currently in clinical development target pathways that play critical roles in cancer. Our clinical development group is comprised of experienced professionals with expertise and experience to quickly move our development candidate compounds from preclinical testing to investigational new drug (IND) status and through Phase III clinical trials. The clinical development group possesses critical expertise in the areas of chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC), pre-clinical testing, clinical trial design, management and analysis, and regulatory affairs. The team's proficiency and productivity is a remarkable asset that has enabled us to advance twelve compounds into the clinic in three years. The productivity of Exelixis' discovery engine and the stringency of its screening processes will support the addition of at least three new compounds to the company's pipeline each year for the foreseeable future. Exelixis intends to leverage the quantity and quality of the compounds generated by this engine to build a pipeline of product candidates that have the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes. |
